Mendoza, October 2nd, 2018. A Technological Cooperation Agreement has been entered into today among the Government of Mendoza, represented by Martín Kerchner Tomba, Ministry of Economy, Infrastructure and Energy; UNCuyo, represented by Daniel Pizzi, its Rector; INTI, represented by its President, Javier Ibañez; and IMPSA, represented by Juan Carlos Fernandez, its CEO for the purpose of promoting the development of renewable energies.

The agreement considers the design and manufacturing of a 5 MW wind-powered generator based on the current demands of the wind market. This a brand new concept that will be developed by the technical teams of the institutions involved leveraging the capacities of INTI, UNCuyo, and the Government’s specialized professionals and IMPSA’s experience as the only Argentinean company that develops high-power wind generation technology.

This is the first Agreement that gathers the scientific, technological, and productive sectors for this kind of development through the Government of Mendoza.

The first wind-powered generator will be manufactured and assembled in Mendoza and will generate energy capable of supplying 3,000 households. The term for the commercial operation of this equipment will be of 22 months.

Juan Carlos Fernandez, IMPSA’s CEO, expressed, “IMPSA is proud to share its vast know-how with INTI and Universidad Nacional de Cuyo. We acknowledge that this agreement is essential to facilitate the productive development of the Argentinean industry through technological innovation.”

The synergistic nature of this project will contribute to the high added-value technological development among institutions involving local suppliers and developers that will be in charge of manufacturing the pieces of the first wind-powered generator, thereby strengthening the value chain and generating highly-qualified labor.
